Franz Altmutter ein sehr vielseitiger Künstler aus Tirol

Franz Altmutter, 4. September 1745 in Vienna; † 21. Januar 1817 in Innsbruck, Tirol was an Austrain painter. He was was the father of Jakob Placidus Altmutter. His style was typical of the late baroque period, and art historians believe that he was influenced by Troger.

Pupil of Bande, Jakob Christoph Schletterer, Caspar Franz Sambach and  Jacob Matthias Schmutzer in Viena. He then spent 6 ears in Hungary. From 1771 he was in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, where he worked for Graf von Heisters, the governor of the Tyrol. He worked in oil, gouache, fresco and pastel, painting, portraits, animal, architectural and flower pieces and frescoes for many churches in Tyrol.
