Thomas von Olera Helliger Bruder von Tirol

Today in Bergamo, Italy, Capuchin Brother Thomas Acerbis of Olera /1563-1631/ is declared blessed. September 21, 2013.

Thomas of Olera /before joining the Order he was called Tommaso Acerbis/, brother of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor. He was born in Olera /Italy/ in the last years of 1563 and died in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, Austria on May 3, 1631. 
He was a Quaestor of Diocese of northern Tyrol and the spiritual guide of Archduke Leopold V Habsburg /Regent of Tyrol/ and his wife Claudia de' Medici.
Pope John XXIII defined Bl. Thomas of Olera: "an authentic saint and master of the spirit". Paul VI remembered him as "a valid instrument of general spiritual renewal... in such way as to shine in the history of that glorious period together with the most ardent supporters of the Catholic Reformation".
