Mozarts Taufbecken - Dom zu Salzburg

Great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was born in Salzburg,  Austria.  He was baptized the day or two after his birth, at St. Rupert's Cathedral as Johannes, Chrysostomus, Wolfgangus, Theophilus.

The Salzburg Cathedral (Dom) is the one of most significant baroque building in Europe.  This magnificent church in the very center of Salzburg dates from 774, with further renovations done in 1628 and 1959.  To the left of the entrance you will find the  800 year old baptismal font where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized.

Mozart was brought up a Roman Catholic and remained a member of the church throughout his life.
