Weiden in der Oberpfalz (official name: Weiden i.d.OPf.) is a district-free city in Bavaria, Germany.

Weiden in der Oberpfalz was first mentioned in a document in 1241 as Weiden. It is assumed that the first settlements in Weiden are dated the year 1000. An economic boom came along in 1863 when Weiden was connected to the railroad network.

Approximately 42,000 people live here. The "City of Max Reger" who was a German composer and organist - this moniker points to its most famous son.

The city is also known beyond this region for its industries: Companies such as Bauscher, Seltmann or Nachtmann enjoy an outstanding reputation all over the world. In addition, two companies - the mail-order clothier Witt and the auto-parts supplier Auto-Teile-Unger, successful on the international level - are headquartered in Weiden.
